On September 26–27, the Biofaction team and members from the Mi-Hy project—Rosie Broadhead, Lenon Modesto, Günter Seyfried, and Uliana Reutina—had the pleasure of participating in EMPOWER Université Paris-Saclay in Paris, France. As a maker and scientific event of the academic year, it provided the perfect stage for us to present our latest research through the Mi-Hy project.

During the event, we led a hands-on workshop focused on the Mi-Hy circular hydroponic system. It was a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate how we use bio-electricity to transform wastewater into a resource. Participants joined us in building microbial fuel cells (MFCs) using ceramics and activated carbon, exploring how these systems generate electricity and water while providing essential nutrients like nitrogen and phosphates for plant growth. With 30 exhibitors from across the STEAM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics), the discussions and ideas were shared from different fields.
